TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Deposits & Final Payment

A deposit is required to confirm your booking. The standard deposit is 30% of the total trip cost, unless otherwise stated.

Some programs may require a higher deposit than 30%. If so, this will be communicated by your travel consultant at the time of booking.

Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure, unless otherwise specified. Certain programs may require earlier final payment (up to 60 days before departure). This will be advised by your travel consultant at the time of booking.

The Mount Kinabalu Climbing Program requires full payment at the time of booking and is strictly non-refundable and non-cancellable, as per the policy of the mountain operator.

Your booking is not considered confirmed until the deposit (or full payment, where applicable) has been received and a confirmation invoice issued.

2. Airfare

Full payment is required at the time of booking for all airfares. Airfares are non-refundable and subject to airline terms and conditions.

3. Cancellations by You

If you cancel your booking, the following standard fees apply:

  • More than 61 days prior to arrival -> 30% cancellation fee applies.

  • 60–31 days prior to arrival-> 50% cancellation fee applies.

  • 30 days or fewer prior to arrival -> 100% cancellation fee applies.

Please note: Some programs, activities, or accommodations may carry stricter cancellation terms (including up to 100% cancellation from 60 days prior). Where applicable, these will be advised by your travel consultant at the time of booking.

4. Amendments by You

Any request to amend a confirmed booking is subject to availability and may incur additional costs charged by third-party suppliers.

For postponements or cancellations due to medical reasons, SRT will endeavor to assist with rescheduling where possible. Supporting documentation (e.g. a doctor’s letter) will be required.

All amendments remain subject to the terms and conditions of third-party suppliers.

5. Refund of Unused Services

No refunds or exchanges can be made for unused services, including accommodation, meals, sightseeing tours, transport, or other inclusions once travel has commenced.

6. Payment Methods

SRT accepts payments in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and US Dollars (USD). Payment options include:

  • Flywire – secure online payment gateway for credit card and bank transfers (recommended for international clients).

  • Wise (formerly TransferWise) – direct transfer to SRT’s MYR or USD account in Malaysia.

  • Bank Telegraphic/Wire Transfer – ensure that all details match the invoice exactly (e.g. account name Sticky Rice Travel Sdn Bhd). Any discrepancies may result in rejection by the bank and additional costs. Bank fees and charges are borne by the participant.

7. Participants with Special Needs

It is the participant’s responsibility to inform SRT of any physical, medical, or mental conditions relevant to their trip. SRT reserves the right to decline a booking if the itinerary is deemed unsuitable for the participant’s condition. No liability will be accepted for any issues arising from undisclosed conditions.

8. Activity-Specific Licensing & Certifications

Certain programmes require participants to hold valid certifications issued by a recognised governing body. For scuba diving, participants must provide proof of a valid dive certification prior to booking confirmation. Original certification cards or digital equivalents must be presented to the dive resort or dive operator upon arrival. SRT accepts no liability for participants denied participation due to failure to produce valid credentials. Where an activity requires additional certifications or permits, this will be communicated by your travel consultant at the time of booking.

9. Passport, Visa & Immigration Requirements

Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the end of your trip. Most nationalities can enter Malaysia visa-free for up to 90 days. Since January 2024, all travellers must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three days before arrival. MDAC website: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main

10. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all participants. Insurance should cover (but is not limited to): medical evacuation, accidents, illness, cancellations, delays, lost baggage, natural disasters, infectious diseases, and acts of terrorism. Some itineraries may require proof of insurance as a condition of travel.

11. Confidentiality & Data Protection

SRT is committed to protecting your personal information in line with strict confidentiality standards. Personal data will only be collected, stored, and used for the purpose of booking and delivering travel services. SRT will not disclose personal information to unauthorized third parties without prior written consent, unless required to fulfill booked services.
